Share Whether the current economic climate there's no doubt about it compared to a general increased sensitivity animal. I want to remind all gattofili and friends who are going to be surrounded by molten "Ron Ron" and hair almost everywhere and in our humble homes, we have a great need for these silent Children of a Lesser God, their presence brightens the house, relax the soul and invites contemplation, are living beings, so to say, Zen!

ABANDONED CATS: INCREASED BY 12% IN 2010 (1 million stray dogs)
Rome (March 7, 2010) were 80,000 cats that have been abandoned in 2010 estimated an increase of about 12% of 'previous year and about 60,000 new baby kitten born last year in a state of stray dogs. These are numbers that should increase the number of stray cats in Italy estimated total of about 1,000,000 copies in (Ministry of Health estimate 2007), which should be added about 250,000 cats present in over 1,200 shelters and catteries public and private Italian and many of which are already adopted. That of the stray cat is a phenomenon that speak little or because the cat is still considered a pet free and whose territoriality is protected under the law 281/91 and subsequent implementation of individual regional laws that determine the status of recognition and management of settlements in the territory leaving the responsibility to individual citizens, to animal welfare organizations and local governments and the veterinary asl with methods that have different modes region to region. The fact remains that even for cats, especially the danger of leaving the stage when they are puppies is very high and that the only way to overcome this bad habit is to make compulsory sterilization of female cats. Another time of year when cats are at risk of abandonment is definitely the summer when the focus is mainly on the abandonment of dogs, but unfortunately is widespread and in a greater proportion of the abandonment cat. To understand and be able to make sense of the numbers cited above we must keep in mind that the population of cats on the Italian territory there are around 9 million copies in just under 8 million living in the household or are otherwise cared for and monitored in small groups or private colonies. The mortality rate is quite high taking into account the fact that cats live on average about 18 years we can say that every year only at least half a million cats who die each year after reaching the age limit to which we must add at least 40,000 killed in various ways (rituals, vivisection labs, traffic accidents, fur), among whom we also understand those who are still eaten by humans in a number not less than 6-7000 per year (as reported AIDA). "The phenomenon of stray-cat says Lorenzo Cross-national president of AIDA is a phenomenon by no means negligible, and the disclosure of which is felt throughout Italy without much distinction between north and south. To combat it must surely go to the sterilization of females in order to reduce the number of pups born each year, but should also encourage adoptions in shelters or in shelters many of which are at maximum capacity and beyond. We also invite - Cross-claims to give a hand to the cat that deal with feral colonies and those responsible for more shelters in need of food and veterinary care for pennies also invite individuals who can not afford to keep the litters to sterilize their female and castrated male cats at home so as not to have increased risks of indiscriminate use of the feline population and the consequent phenomenon of abandonment and stray dogs.
